Food waste is such a big topic, recently being highlighted by so many people, from chefs to the farmers themselves, from both an environmental and a money saving angle, we need to listen up! From Jamie Oliver to Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall, and over the pond, Ellen Degeneres and Shawn Mendez, lots of big names are talking about the food waste issue.

The best thing is, we can all do our small bit without changing much in our day to day life. A lot of leading super markets have started stocking groceries that do not meet the mark, and at the fraction of the price. Win Win! We're loving the names too: from Sainsburys' 'Imperfectly Tasty' range, to Tesco's 'Perfectly Imperfect' range and Morrisons' 'Naturally Wonky'.

Did you know? Up to a shocking 40% of fruit and veg crop can be wasted due to it not meeting the required aesthetics that we as consumers have become accustomed to.

In an ideal world it would be possible to run slower lives and spend time shopping small and locally, supporting our local green grocers, butchers and fishmongers, but with tight budgets, bills to pay, busy work lives and full lifestyles, not all of us have this option to us.

With the worrying news about forever rising living costs, one thing we do all have time for is saving money! With the knowledge that you're also helping reduce waste and therefore living in a kinder way to the environment, food apps that help companies sell the food on that's going to go to waste otherwise sounds great for all the right reasons!
